Weather: San Francisco hit with big Bay Area storm

A strong storm is now bearing down on the Northwest, which I will describe in a second. San Francisco will NOT be hit by this strong low center but will get a bit of a trailing front. These poor golden-state folks will experience a 

The threat of wet weather fades late this evening. We awake to a partly cloudy sky with patchy dense fog and much cooler conditions. Concord: 57/43. Fremont: 60/43. Oakland: 60/48. Redwood City: 60/42. San Francisco: 59/ 

Our morning drizzle and fog morphs to mainly cloudy conditions and scattered sprinkles by noon.

For comparison, San Francisco has recorded 3.21 inches of rain for the day through 10 p.m. If I'm reading the weather records right, that makes it one of the five rainiest December days in the city's weather history going back to
