Tony Phillips, Whose Play Sealed 1989 World Series, Dies at 56

Former Detroit Tigers utility player Tony Phillips passed away Wednesday at the age of 56. He played between the years of 1982 and 1999. He was living in the Bay Area and reportedly died of a heart attack. Our deepest condolences go to his family

Long-time big leaguer Tony Phillips died in Arizona of an apparent heart attack, as Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Phillips was just 56 years old. His former teammate and current Diamondbacks GM Dave Stewart conveyed the news.
