Reading event marks Dr. Seuss' birthday

Read Across America Day was established in 1998 by the National Education Association as both a reading motivation and awareness program and a way of paying tribute to the prolific children's author Dr. Seuss, who was born March 2, 1904.

La Pine Elementary School celebrated reading at the 18th annual Cat in the Hat Night. The night is part of the national Read Across America program and is filled with Dr. Seuss-centered activities.

The Noah Webster House and West Hartford Historical Society celebrate Dr. Seuss Day on Saturday with an afternoon of children's activities at the Noah Webster House. While there won't be green eggs and ham, there will be Cat in the Hat story times
