Jim Schwartz's fate in Detroit appeared to be sealed last week when his Lions lost their shot at the NFC North title — and Schwartz was caught by FOX's cameras turning to shout at booing fans.

In an unsurprising move, the Lions axe Jim Schwartz after going 7-9.

Back-to-back losing seasons doomed Schwartz, who oversaw a Lions team that crumbled down the stretch this season, losing six of its last seven to tumble out of postseason contention. Schwartz joins the pile of coaches who failed in the seemingly futile
