'Home' Reviews: Rihanna & Jim Parsons Team Up For Adorable Flick

Home — which hits theaters in the U.S. on Friday, March 27 — took an impressive $9.1 million in its opening weekend, the biggest debut for an animated film since The Lego Movie bowed to $12 million in February 2014, and 

On March 27, DreamWorks will release their first 3D animated film starring a black protagonist. The movie, titled Home, will co-star singer Rihanna and The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons respectively playing a young girl named Tip and an alien named Oh.

But the premise of the movie is flat out nothing to joke about. It's socially irresponsible. Borderline racist and most of all lazily written. It almost seems like one of those old Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder buddy comedies has been plagiarized

Home is a great example of why relentless palatability and artistic "safety" ends up being way more boring than pleasant. The movie concerns the alien Oh (Jim Parsons, the character named for the unenthusiastic sound 

Unlike many kids' movies, Home has multiple morals to its story, which it reveals through small interactions between the characters throughout the movie, rather than an evergreen statement at the end. The combination of Home's layered message, fun
