Former Marlboro man Eric Lawson dies of smoking-related disease

Lawson was an actor who appeared on shows such as "Baretta" and "The Streets of San Francisco". In addition to the two titles, he appeared on "Charlie's Angels", ''Dynasty" and "Baywatch. He starred in the cigarette commercial between 1978 and 1981.

Eric Lawson, who portrayed the Marlboro Man on advertisements from 1972 through to 1981 joins the legacy of death which has already claimed several lives. The actor died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) 

The ruggedly handsome Lawson portrayed the smoking cowboy in Marlboro print ads from 1978 to 1981. He also had bit parts in such TV shows as Baretta and Charlie's Angels before injuries sustained on the set of a Western film ended his acting career.
