UPDATE: NHTSA has officially announced the expansion of the Takata airbag inflator recall to about 34 million vehicles nationwide, and the agency is coordinating with automakers. The supplier is also finally acknowledging 

The Takata airbag recall is now the largest automotive recall in U.S. history, with 33.8 million cars now affected. Takata now admits to a defect.
