Challenge aims to help put ALS on ice

Braun tagged three of his teammates to complete the challenge: Jonathan Lucroy, Kyle Lohse and Carlos Gomez. The “Ice Bucket Challenge” raises money to fight ALS — or Lou Gehrig's Disease. On Sunday, August 10th,

Kansas City Chiefs GM John Dorsey was among those getting doused with a bucket of ice water as part of the ALS ice bucket challenge.

This is a fact, too: Ever since former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates first issued the challenge to friends to endure dumping buckets of ice on their heads, the ALS Association has seen a 1,000 percent spike in donations over this time last

As Jim Lites, Jim Nill and alumni association director Bob Bassen took their turn under the bucket Monday, Lites announced the Stars and owner Tom Gaglardi were combining to donate $20,000 toward ALS research.

According to the ALS Association, that organization and its 38 chapters have received $4 million in donations between July 29 and Aug. 12.
