BMX star Dave Mirra dies

(RNN) – BMX rider Dave Mirra has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Greenville, NC, police said. Mirra was 41 and leaves behind a wife and two children. According to his website, Mirra won more X Games gold medals than any other X Games athlete.

Mirra parlayed that success into a video game, “Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX,” and two seasons hosting “MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge” from 2004-05. He had cameo appearances on shows like “Punk'd,” “George Lopez” and an ESPN “30 for 30” on
