'Blood Moon' Eclipse Dazzles Skywatchers

The total eclipse of the moon lasted only a short time, but it still dazzled. Early risers in the western U.S. and Canada should have been able to catch a glimpse before dawn Saturday. The moment when the moon was completely obscured by Earth's shadow

A total eclipse of the moon made people in Saskatchewan turn around early Saturday morning. NASA called the "blood moon" the shortest eclipse in a century, but those with their eyes peeled to the sky still managed to grab some great shots in the province.

The moon will pass through the Earth's shadow and turn blood-red in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, in a brief total eclipse best visible from the western part of the US.
