Ash Wednesday “To Go” hosted by 22 WNY churches

After an unsettled weekend and start to the week, high pressure will bring dry conditions to western Europe in time for Ash Wednesday.

We have three scheduled MEFs for Ash Wednesday, 18 Feb. (If you know of others, let me know, and I'll get a confirmation from the priest.) Sacred Heart Catholic Church, US Hwy 421 and McKay Avenue, Dunn, NC 28334

Each week of Lent, we'll provide an Ignatian prayer for you, inspired by a video from Arts & Faith: Lent. The video and prayer for Ash Wednesday are below. “See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation!”.

Every year, Ash Wednesday rolls around, and every year, this church swells with crowds of people, eager to be marked as we begin the observance of Lent. Receiving these ashes, of course, serves a number of purposes. First, it proclaims to the world

On Wednesday, churches throughout the region will distribute ashes to mark Ash Wednesday, which begins the Lenten season. Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting as well as the day Christians have the sign of the cross drawn on their foreheads with ashes.
