Artist HR Giger, Creator Of Surreal Biomechanics, Dies

Two things happened today, and this drawing represents the intersection of those things. First, well-known illustrator of ornate and biologically disturbing sci-fi imagery HR Giger died today. Also, a new Batmobile was revealed 

The Swiss surrealist HR Giger has died at the age of 74. Among many other achievements, he won an Oscar for the monster he created for Ridley Scott's "Alien."

He later created "Giger Bars" in Switzerland which used his designs for their interiors – he disowned another bar in Japan after they failed to properly realise his designs. In 1998 he opened the HR Giger Museum in Chateau St. Germain, Switzerland
