Apple's new emojis turn into aliens when sent to earlier versions of iOS

It was always weird that Snapchat exposed who you snapped with most in the “Best Friends” list, so today the app is ditching that for a new private way to see who you're closest to. Only you will see these new Friend Emojis 

Apple on Wednesday issued the final release of iOS 8.3, adding features such as new emoji characters, Siri improvements, and wireless CarPlay support, alongside a multitude of bugfixes and minor interface tweaks.

So when it was announced in February that Apple would be coming out with an updated range of emojis that would include racial diverse characters, there was understandable excitement. Well the new emojis are here and Twitter has gone into overdrive as 

The new feature replaces the public 'Best Friends' list, which was ditched last year after privacy concerns. Previously, anyone in a user's contact list could see who they sent the most snaps to. But Friends Emojis are totally private and only the user
